For One Day, We Forget

For one day, we forget,
the chaos, the pain,
the despair, the slain.

For one day, we pray
in darkness we hope,
for the light we grope.

For one day we pretend,
we laugh, we cheer,
like there is no fear,
and our smiles are real.

For one day, we try,
to make the world better,
to sew a cloth in tatters.

For one day, we hope,
to unite, to prosper,
to rise, together.

Happy New Year!
